At our tranquil sanctuary, we inspire individuals to embrace a lifestyle of mindfulness, stewardship of nature, and compassion towards all living beings, fostering a supportive and connected community.
Meet The Owners
We are Jay and Tina Jenkins, fourth-generation Nassau County residents and owners of Jaybird Hammock Farm, where we live with our 3 children - Ray, Julien & Tristan. The farm is located on Frank Ward Road, named after Jay's great-grandfather who established the farm nearly a century ago. The farm embodies our deep rooted connection to the area. We are committed to sustainable practices that preserve the agricultural landscape and its natural surroundings, ensuring the farm remains a sanctuary for wildlife and hub for community engagement.

Tina Jenkins
Tina Jenkins is a fourth-generation Nassau County native — a farmer, biologist, naturalist, educator, and creative force behind Jaybird Hammock Farm. Alongside her role as a Professor of Biological Sciences at Florida State College at Jacksonville, she oversees nearly every aspect of the farm — caring for the animals, coordinating events, guiding nature walks, and hosting guests who come to experience the land’s peaceful rhythm.
Her mission is to foster meaningful connections between people, animals, and the natural world. Whether hosting Moonlit Meditations beneath the pines, organizing Goat Yoga, or leading Nature Walks with the Goat Herd, Tina’s work reflects her deep belief that nature restores balance, teaches compassion, and inspires mindfulness.
Rooted in a family legacy of nature lovers — a passion first shared by her mother, Myra Shuman, and passed down through generations — Tina continues the tradition with her own children. Through her work at Jaybird Hammock Farm, she strives to cultivate community and well-being while nurturing harmony between people and the environment.

Jay Jenkins
Jay Jenkins, a fourth-generation Nassau County native and co-owner of Jaybird Hammock Farm, is the backbone of the farm. Though rarely seen at public events, his dedication is felt in every fence post, pasture, and project. In addition to his full-time job as an auto-glass technician, Jay spends his mornings, evenings, and weekends maintaining the land and building the spaces that make the farm what it is — always alongside his wife, Tina.
The farm’s name, “Jaybird Hammock,” honors Jay’s beloved grandmother, Connell Jenkins, who affectionately called him “Jaybird” or “Birdling” — nicknames she kept long after he’d grown into a 6’4” man. Her love and humor continue to inspire the heart and soul of the farm.
